TANAY, RIZAL — The San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish, in partnership with the Tanay Agricultural Office, conducted a Pet Blessing Ceremony on October 17, 2025, bringing together parishioners and pet owners to celebrate the bond between people and their animal companions.
The ceremony, held at the parish grounds, began with a prayer service led by Rev. Fr. Ferdinand C. Delatado, Parish Priest, who blessed each pet and reminded the faithful that caring for animals is an expression of gratitude to God, the Creator of all life. Cats, dogs, and other pets received blessings and were sprinkled with holy water, as their owners offered prayers of thanksgiving for their companionship.
Representatives from the Tanay Agricultural Office were present to support the event and to promote responsible pet care and animal welfare awareness. Informational materials and guidance on proper pet nutrition and vaccination were also made available to attendees.
Adding joy to the celebration, sponsors distributed free dog and cat treats, delighting both the owners and their pets. The gesture symbolized the spirit of sharing and care that the parish seeks to promote in the community.
The Pet Blessing served not only as an act of devotion but also as a reflection of the Church’s commitment to stewardship of creation. Through this collaborative effort, the San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish and its partners encouraged a deeper appreciation of God’s creatures and the responsibility to care for them with love and respect.
