TANAY, RIZAL– The 92nd Grand Santacruzan and Flores de Mayo was held at San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish on May 18, 2025, bringing together parishioners, local families, and visitors to take part in one of the parish’s long-standing religious events.

The day began with the placement of the image of the Virgen delos Flores at the main altar of the church. After a short period of prayer and reflection, the image was brought to the church patio, marking the start of the Grand Procession.

Devotees lined the streets as sagalas and different reynas walked in the procession, each carrying symbols related to Marian devotion and biblical stories.

After the procession, participants and attendees gathered at the parish grounds for the Thanksgiving and Offering of Flowers and Symbolisms.

Children and youth offered flowers at the foot of the image as part of the traditional Flores de Mayo practice. This was followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass, which closed the day’s program.

This year’s Hermano Mayor was Dr. Bryan Charles Custodio, and the Hermana Mayor was Atty. Jayzamel Vista. They led the preparations and supported the parish in organizing the event.

Flores de Mayo is a religious tradition held during the month of May in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is observed in many parts of the Philippines through daily flower offerings, prayers, and community gatherings. The celebration usually ends with the Santacruzan, a procession that recalls the search for the True Cross by Queen Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine.

Now in its 92nd year, the Santacruzan in Tanay continues to be a part of the community’s faith life. It brings together people of all ages and serves as a reminder of shared values rooted in faith, history, and family.

The parish thanked all participants, volunteers, and supporters who helped in this year’s celebration.

Preparations for next year’s Flores de Mayo are expected to begin early, with the hope of continuing the tradition for future generations.
