TANAY, RIZAL – The San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish in Tanay, Rizal, will mark a historic occasion on January 9, 2025, as it officially opens its doors as a Jubilee Church, coinciding with the grand celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

The event will be a day full of religious activities, including a special mass, procession, and community festivities.

The celebrations will begin with a unique sacramental activity, as prison inmates from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), located just behind the municipal hall, will have an opportunity to participate in the sacrament of confession. This will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Following this, a concert will be held at the Municipal Grounds at 3:00 PM, where local talents and artists will entertain attendees with music and performances in preparation for the religious ceremonies that will follow.

At 4:00 PM, the solemn Mass will begin at the Municipal Grounds to be presided by Bishop Ruperto Santos, D.D. of the Diocese of Balanga. After the mass, the faithful will participate in a grand procession from the Municipal Grounds to the San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish Church.

The procession will culminate at the church, where the mass will continue.

After then, Nazareno procession will be held after the concluding Mass. This procession, a significant event for devotees of the Black Nazarene, is expected to draw large crowds in honor of the revered image.

In an important note, due to the length of the mass and procession—estimated to last around 2.5 to 3 hours—the usual 6:00 PM mass will be canceled for that day.

Organizers urge attendees to join the earlier Mass and be part of the religious and community celebrations in honor of the Nazareno.

The event promises to be a memorable day of faith, devotion, and community spirit, as the San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish officially embarks on its Jubilee year and celebrates one of the most revered feasts in the Catholic calendar.
