ANTIPOLO CITY – St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish, formerly Saint Pedro Calungsod Parish in Antipolo City, has announced that the parish will be elevated to the status of a Diocesan Shrine on September 23, 2024 during the Feast of St. Pio of Pietrelcina.
A Diocesan Shrine is a church or location designated for its significance within a diocese. It serves as a center for pilgrimage, prayer, and special religious events.
The designation is specific to the diocese and acknowledges the church’s importance in the local religious community.
The Holy Mass for the occasion will be led by the Bishop of Antipolo, Most Rev. Ruperto Cruz Santos.
For those who cannot attend in person, the Holy Mass will be streamed live on the Official Facebook page of St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish and the Antipolensis Facebook page.
This new status recognizes the parish’s role in the spiritual life of Antipolo City and the surrounding areas and offers the community new opportunities for worship and reflection.
