ANTIPOLO — In a heartfelt message marking the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on the care for creation, Most Rev. Ruperto C. Santos, D.D., Bishop of Antipolo, renewed the Church’s call for environmental stewardship grounded in faith, love, and responsibility.
Reflecting on the enduring message of Laudato Si’, Bishop Santos urged the faithful across the diocese to re-examine their role as stewards of the Earth. He emphasized that the well-being of humanity is deeply interconnected with the health of the planet, and that ecological care is not merely a social obligation but a moral and spiritual one.
“In this time of reflection and renewal, let us recommit ourselves to the principles of Laudato Si’,” the bishop said. “Let us embrace simple yet profound actions – reducing waste, conserving water and protecting forests, and advocating for policies that uphold environmental justice”
He further called on parishes, Catholic schools, and local communities to take concrete steps toward sustainability. From simple lifestyle changes to parish-wide initiatives, he encouraged everyone to become living examples of compassion and ecological commitment.
“I encourage all people of goodwill to take part in this mission. Let our parishes, schools, and communities be shining examples of sustainability and compassion..”
As the global Church reflects on a decade of Laudato Si’, Bishop Santos’ message stands as a reminder that caring for creation is a shared mission—one rooted in love for God, respect for life, and hope for future generations.
