TANAY, RIZAL – The Opening of Flores de Mayo 2025 was held at San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish on May 1, 2025, marking the beginning of one of the most widely celebrated and cherished religious traditions in Tanay and across the Philippines.
The event started promptly at 2:00 PM with an opening salvo and a procession, where parishioners, local families, and community members came together in prayer and devotion to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary. This opening procession sets the tone for the entire month of May, during which Flores de Mayo is celebrated with various activities centered on Marian devotion.
At 4:00 PM, the faithful gathered for the praying of the Holy Rosary, a key prayer reflecting the deep Marian spirituality embraced by many Filipino Catholics.
Following the rosary, a Marian Talk was held to enrich the understanding of the significance of Mary’s role in the Church and in the lives of the faithful.
The day’s celebrations concluded with a Holy Mass at 6:00 PM, where the parish community united in the Eucharist to offer thanks and seek Mary’s intercession.
This year’s Hermano Mayor, Dr. Bryan Charles Custodio, and Hermana Mayor, Atty. Jayzamel Vista, played important roles in organizing and leading the event, ensuring that the tradition continues with strong community involvement.
Flores de Mayo is not only a religious observance but also a cultural event that brings together the people of Tanay. It has been celebrated for generations, involving families, children, and parish groups who participate in daily prayers, flower offerings, and special programs.
The parish encourages everyone to take part in the daily Flores de Mayo activities throughout the month, keeping alive this beloved tradition that highlights the community’s faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
