First ‘Stations of the Cross’ marks start of 2025 Lenten Season

TANAY, RIZAL – The San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish in Tanay, Rizal, kicked off the Lenten season with the annual Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 7, 2025.

The event, led by Rev. Fr. Ferdinand C. Delatado, parish priest, was held at Barangay Plaza Aldea and was attended by hundreds of parishioners from the community.

The Stations of the Cross is a long-standing tradition observed by Catholic communities worldwide during Lent. It commemorates the final journey of Jesus Christ to His crucifixion, with participants reflecting on the 14 stations representing key events along the path to Calvary.

The event at San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish was a moment of deep devotion, as families from the parish prepared candles and images representing each station, adding a personal touch to the solemn procession.

The event was particularly significant as it was accompanied by the image of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, a revered figure in the parish, carried in the procession.

The devotion to the Stations of the Cross has been a yearly event at the parish, offering an opportunity for the community to come together in prayer and reflection as they prepare for the celebration of Easter.

The Stations of the Cross at San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish is an important tradition that marks the beginning of the Lenten season, reminding the faithful of the sacrifice and love of Christ.

This observance, held annually, continues to be a vital expression of faith for the parishioners of Tanay.
