TANAY, RIZAL – San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish hosted a Candidates Forum and Covenant Signing inside the church on May 5, bringing together candidates and community members ahead of the upcoming national and local elections.
The event was organized by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), a church-based group dedicated to promoting clean, honest, and peaceful elections. The forum was part of the parish’s effort to encourage voter education and civic engagement among the faithful.
Candidates for the positions of Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Councilors from different political teams attended the forum. Each candidate was given the chance to introduce themselves and share their vision for the community.
This was followed by a question-and-answer portion where candidates responded to queries from parishioners and community members. Topics ranged from local development plans, social services, transparency, youth programs, to anti-corruption measures.
The forum provided voters with a unique opportunity to hear directly from those seeking office and assess their platforms and commitment to public service.
The event concluded with a Covenant Signing Ceremony, where all candidates pledged their cooperation for a clean, honest, and transparent election process. This symbolic act reinforced their shared responsibility to respect the democratic process and work towards a peaceful election.
Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Delatado, parish priest of San Ildefonso de Toledo Parish, expressed his gratitude to the candidates for participating and emphasized the importance of good governance rooted in faith and service. He also thanked the PPCRV volunteers for their dedication to ensuring credible elections.
The parish encourages all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote responsibly and to continue praying for the success of the elections and the welfare of the community.
With the upcoming elections fast approaching, the forum and covenant signing serve as a reminder that every vote counts and that clean and honest elections are vital to the future of the town.
