Baptisms
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
— Matthew 28:19-20
What is the Sacrament of Baptism?
The sacrament of baptism is a foundational ritual in the Catholic Church, marking the beginning of one’s journey of faith. Through the pouring or immersion in water and the invocation of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), baptism signifies purification from sin, initiation into the Christian community, and the reception of grace for a life of discipleship. It is an outward sign of inward grace, symbolizing rebirth and spiritual regeneration, enabling believers to participate fully in the life of the Church.
